Volunteer Management
Each year about 15,000 volunteers make 500 homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need through Appalachia Service Project (ASP). Volunteer labor is a productive and sustainable alternative to financial subsidies, especially amidst the current federal funding environment. At scale these savings are passed on to the family but most FAHE Members do not have a sufficient pipeline of volunteers for scale to be feasible.
Through the Compact, ASP is launching “Volunteer Appalachia” a program designed to recruit, train and manage volunteers for other nonprofits in the FAHE network.
