Who we are
Most people look at Central Appalachia and see problems. At FAHE, we see opportunities. To improve the economic potency of this overlooked market FAHE provides access to mainstream financial markets. Being a clearinghouse of financial services fills the gaps in local capital markets to enable people, businesses and communities to succeed.
Over the past 25 years we've fine-tuned our approach by establishing a network of local community agencies. Network Members look different in each community. Some are housing authorities or affordable housing developers. Others are large community action agencies with housing being just one of many program areas. Each Member offers any combination of counseling, lending, construction, and property management services. What they all have in common is goal of eliminating systemic poverty in the region.
The capacity for change is extensive. FAHE currently has $50 million under management, including a statewide equity fund, community development bank, and revolving loan funds. To date FAHE has invested more than $60 million into housing solutions for the region. The result is more than 6,000 homes for the Central Appalachians.
